Designer Toy Award contender in the Best Customizer category, JC Rivera, recently completed this commissioned 8.5-inch tall "Toy Prince" figure. In hand-painting one of these exceedingly rare vinyl pieces, Rivera also sculpted into place his own trademark "Bear Champ," a crowned critter grasped firmly in the main figure's non-raised hand. Rendered in Rivera's iconic paint wash style, this is one stunning "Toy Prince" that you can't win… you just had to be lucky enough to commission it!

Artist Gary Ham did this humorous rendition of the Designer Toy Award mascot, The Toy King, being played upon by all of Ham's various creations and collaborations that are currently in consideration for an award this year. We always love seeing artists have fun and play with The Toy King — plus it made us laugh — so we thought we'd pass this adorable little chuckle along to all our loyal readers!

We're happy to announce that from May 1st until May 15th that the Designer Toy Awards, aka the DTAs, will be accepting open nominations in a variety of categories from both professionals and fans alike! Having learned from the previous two years of the DTAs, we've continued to refine and restructure the nomination, voting, and finalist procedure to help ensure quality winners while still garnering input from the entire community. The custom Sametan figures for the PangeaSeed x Cometdebris Don't Tread on Me group show are amazing! 30 custom 4" Sametans designed by 30 artists from all over the world will be on display at the Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco March 29-30.

David Flores has collaborated with BlackBook Toy and the HellFire Canyon Club on the new "Deathead S'murks" sofubi figure. This amazing monochromatic black figure stands at 7" tall and is limited to just 40 pieces.

During the 2nd Annual Designer Toys Awards ceremony, held in New York City on October 13th, 2012, not all of the winners were able to be present so we had some of those we knew would be in abstentia record video acceptance speeches for us. Perhaps the most notable being Michael Lau's thank you video for winning "Best 1/6th Scale," which we didn't receive early enough to air that night:
