Portland based LOOK/SEE has released a series of limited edition LOOK/SEE x G.I. JOE sunglasses! Hasbro and LOOK/SEE timed the release of the sunglasses with the new G.I. JOE: Retaliation movie release. The collection of sunglasses feature five iconic G.I. JOE characters; Duke, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Destro and Cobra Commander. The sunglasses are limited to 100 pieces per character and come in a G.I. JOE blister package inspired by the original figures from the 80s. Retailing for $110 each, these licensed G.I.

Dragatomi's Swanicorn group show The Gathering is opening this Saturday and Shadoe Delgado was nice enough to send us a sneak peak of his contribution. Shadoe has transformed the standard Swanicorn figure into The 3 Eyed 3 Horned Flying Shadow Swanicorn (his friends call him The Hoarder) - a winged beast with a collection of skull-like faces, dragon wings perched on a wood base.

Design company & toy lovers Syntetyk are trying to create and crowd source fund a documentary titled "An Artisan Designer Toy".  The documentary would show the process of creating your own figure from concept to the completed piece.

Alex Diamond is not one artist - it's a project conceived by German artist Jörg Heikaus & heliumcowboy in 2004. "The Alex Diamond Mining Company" is the latest chapter in this story and it brings the project to a new, broader base of an "artist-run cooperation." The co-op uses a wide variety of media including photography which is then painted over such as the photos shown below.

The Ewoks always irritated me... that Ewok celebration in Return of the Jedi produced more eye-rolls than a mall full of teenage girls. It always seemed to me that Lucas couldn't come up with anything fresh so he made the Ewoks look like annoying baby Chewbaccas. The only way to make Ewoks remotely cool is if you make them evil zombies and that is just what Killer Bootlegs has done with their new "Ewoking Dead" figure.

These psychedelic Russian Star Wars posters were created in 1977 before the world really knew what Star Wars was all about. As far as Communist Eastern Europe was concerned it was a sci-fi western that took place on space ships. The posters have more of a polished 2001: A Space Odyssey look about them rather then the grittier Star Wars aesthetic. The Cat-Vader with the light saber hair is awesome! In addition to Cat-Vader & the Space Cowboy pictured above, there is a poster of Greedo some of the Cantina characters & a poster of an emotional Jabba! 

To celebrate the upcoming movie The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey the Wellington International Airport  in enlisted New Zealand special effects and prop company Weta Workshop to construct and install a huge sculpture of Lord of the Rings character, Gollum. The 2,645 pound, 9.8'  high, 43' long sculpture took 3 days to install and is suspended from the ceiling and hovering over diners in the main airport lounge.
