Cavey turns 3 this year & Holly of A Little Stranger is celebrating with a birthday party at the Fleet River Bakery & 5 new Cavey figures! The birthday party releases will consist of a plush Cherry Chocolate Cupcake-vey & one little Vinyl Cake-vey. The Cherry Chocolate Cupcake-vey is made from a chocolate brown fleece with a pink, hand cut, felt icing swirl & faux cherry.

Back in 2009 Venezuelan artist & Illustrator Gabriel Mesa started sketching & developing some mischievous and playful characters he called Chichos. Soon after the characters evolved & were ready to come to life in the form of plush toys! When the Chichos were first being manufactured at Baraduo's Sewing Workshop they were close to 4.5' tall. Now Gabriel & Baraduo have decided to simplify the Chichos by making them smaller, now measuring a little over 3'.

Holly of A Little Stranger doesn't get to share the process of prototyping and production often so when the opportunity arose she decided to take advantage of it and show us how its done! Manufactured by 3DRetro, Bartholomew Punchyface was designed by Scott Tolleson & Luke Chueh and prototyped by Holly. Scott & Luke approached Holly to help iron out some problems they were having with Bart's design.

The soft sculpture and plush exhibition, Stitched, that took over the Clutter Gallery last month is coming to an end. Monday, May 13th, will be the last day to purchase any of the pieces from this show.    Don't forget to pre-order your "Stitched" Exhibition Catalog for only $25

 

Kaitlin Juarez & Max Yax of MadKnits have a couple of cool new plush releases set for this weekend's C2E2 in Chicago. Baticorn is the result of a MadKnits x TofuSquirrel collaboration. This purple, blue & orange bat/unicorn hybrid is limited to an edition of 45 pieces and comes with a limited print by TofuSquirrel. Retailing for $42 each Baticorn will be available at C2E2 April 26 - 28th. Look for an online release of Baticorn on May 1st! 

This last weekend saw the opening of "Stitched," group plush and soft sculpture exhibition curated by Lana Crooks.

Scott Tolleson and Luke Chueh are releasing a limited edition plush they created together called Bartholomew Punchyface. Produced by 3DRetro, this sad little nerd bear is set to make his debut April 13th, at Giant Robot in Los Angeles. Bartholomew Punchy face combines Luke's cynicism with Scott's "nerd chic" together to shape a character that most people - especially those who had a hard time in school - can empathize with.

If artfully construced, handmade dolls make you "oh" and "ah," then Keely Benkey-Reichman's masterfully constructed contributions to the upcoming "Stitched" group plush and soft sculpture exhibition (opening this Saturday, April 13th, with a reception from 6PM to 9PM).
