Creepy Guns Made From Bones

September 26, 2012 - by specialK
Bruce Mahalski is known for using animal bones in his art work. Actually, he uses bones in ALL of his work. Now Bruce has created a fantastic set of dueling pistols made of various bones. His website description of the pistols reads as follows: "Two bone dueling pistols (with spare bullets) mounted in a custom tailored case (by Wellington jeweler Vaune Mason).

Sweat Out Your Demons In The Wellness Skull

September 21, 2012 - by specialK
The wellness skull is a multi-purpose facility: it's cranium is a sauna & the neck is a bath. The sauna part of the skull allows you to contemplate life and death as you sweat out the evil and illness from your body. As you sit in the sauna feeling good - almost rejuvenated, you are reminded that the feeling is fleeting and death is imminent. People viewing the skull from the outside cannot escape this message. A huge representation of death stares them down as steam from the sauna streams from it's eyes.  File 13723

The Ultimate Goldfish Tank

September 13, 2012 - by specialK
In Japan there is an art collective that have been installing goldfish tank phone booths on the streets of Osaka. The name of the five member collective is Kingyobu, which translates to "The Goldfish" in English. The tanks/phone booths are interesting, but the installations leave me with a few questions: How long can the tanks last? Are they going to let the fish starve or will they be fed? What about maintenance? And, the main question, why is Kingyobu doing this?  File 13480

The Mustache Trend

September 11, 2012 - by erica
I can't help but notice that the Mustache is coming back! I don't know whether to be stoked about this or be completely turned off, i haven't decided yet, but seriously this facial hair is everywhere, especially amongst the hipsters. You can't walk anywhere in Williamsburg without seeing a hipster rockin' the 'stache every 2 feet. Surprisingly, this trend is popular amongst the ladies as well… and no, not actual facial hair, but the mustache graphic. I have seen girls sporting mustache tee shirts, tattoos and even jewelry.

Beer, Blood, & Anchorsand

August 30, 2012 - by specialK
Anchorsand knows how to get down, get bloody & party. They recruited photographer Matt Barnes to document drunken college students get their heathen on while wearing Anchorsand tees, tanks, hoodies & hats. By the way, the shirts are pretty damn cool. Give me that 'Smoke Meth & Hail Satan,' I wish I had that shirt when I was 17. One question; where did all of that blood come from? Pre-blood.  File 12960 Blood makes it's appearance.

Why Do They Wear That Corpse Paint?? [UNTIL THE LIGHT TAKES US]

August 16, 2012 - by specialK
What started out as rebellion against western culture in Norway ended up in murder & arson. UNTIL THE LIGHT TAKES US is a documentary that shows how the Black Metal scene that began in Norway during the 90s spun out of control.  While I was familiar with the stories & events that transpired during that time, I never understood the motives. Were the guys involved in this scene so devoted to Satan that they felt the need to burn churches & kill people?

Animals Acting like Sharks Week!

August 13, 2012 - by erica
Yesterday, Sunday August 12th, marked the premier of The Discovery Channels 2012 "Shark Week". For those of you who dont know about Shark Week, its pretty self explanatory. The Discovery Channel, plays strictly Shark inspired shows for an entire week, usually some time in August. Some of the shows featured during this week are documentaries, and others are stories about shark attacks. It's pretty gory, but its one of those things that everyone loves.

Body Magic, Body Body Magic

August 9, 2012 - by specialK
John Michael Boling and Javier Alberto Morales have made a video I can sit and watch all day. It's called "Body Magic" and it is glorious. The music is by Javier & it sets a crazy, almost manic pace for the video. I'm not giving you a description, you're going to have to watch it.

Heat Sensitive Furniture... Yikes

August 9, 2012 - by specialK
Heat sensitive furniture can be a dangerous thing. Designer Jay Watson has put a heat sensitive thermochromic finish on a table & chair ensemble. So anything that emits heat will leave a thermal impression on the furniture. Oh, think of the possibilities!  File 11941 File 11936 File 11940 File 11938
