Anton Semenov

February 13, 2013 - by Chonny
Psychedelic and spooky, Russian illustrator Anton Semenov's creepy art conjures up all kinds of nightmares for me, but I can't turn my eyes away from it.  I'd be interested to see how he'd handle a comic book cover; something mainstream like Batman perhaps?  Check out more of his work here.

Kim Herbst Illustration

February 11, 2013 - by Chonny
After stumbling across San Francisco-based illustrator Kim Herbst's work last week, I've been consistently motivated to keep returning to her site and blog to see more.  There's a romantic decisiveness about her style--whimsical, yet dark--and often rooted in a pretty nifty understanding of geek culture.

Jeremy Kalgreen of Amorphia Apparel has created an awesome series of fake sports teams t-shirts. Called "The History League", the teams represent actual historical events or people. Jeremy has even designed t-shirts for historical team matches such as "The 14th Century Humans vs. The Bubonic Plague". The bright, vibrant designs certainly look like they could represent a college basketball or football team or an NHL team!

Russian Star Wars Movie Posters

November 26, 2012 - by specialK
These psychedelic Russian Star Wars posters were created in 1977 before the world really knew what Star Wars was all about. As far as Communist Eastern Europe was concerned it was a sci-fi western that took place on space ships. The posters have more of a polished 2001: A Space Odyssey look about them rather then the grittier Star Wars aesthetic. The Cat-Vader with the light saber hair is awesome! In addition to Cat-Vader & the Space Cowboy pictured above, there is a poster of Greedo some of the Cantina characters & a poster of an emotional Jabba!
