New PS3 Drops 9/28

The iconic PlayStation 3 has had a makeover. Slimmer & sleeker, the PS3 is 50% smaller than the original PS3's size (down to only 4.63 lbs.), but it's almost double the hard drive space. There will be two models available: the 500GB is set to drop on 9/28 & will be bundled with FIFA13, Assassin's Creed 3 or Harry Potter: Book of Spells, along with Sony's Wonderbook "Paperipheral." The 250GB version will drop 10/12 & will include Uncharted 3: Drakes's Deception.  File 13884

Kingdom Hearts HD Collection Headed to PlayStation 3

Kingdom Hearts -- the celebrated video game collaboration between Disney and Final Fantasy maker Square Enix -- is several years removed from its core numbered PlayStation 2 entries, and has instead spent the last few years releasing a variety of lesser titles for handheld platforms. But with a third main Kingdom Hearts game rumored for years, Square Enix seems interested in reigniting interest in the series, and will do so via next year's Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX.

Retro/Grade Blends Plastic Guitars with Space Shooters, Out August 21

Retro/Grade is one of the more inventive games due out in near future, allowing PlayStation 3 owners to play a fresh take on a space shooter using an optional plastic guitar -- the same ones used for games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Essentially, you play as a spaceship traveling backwards in time, and you'll strum the guitar while switching between lanes to "unshoot" bullets to maintain the time continuum.

Rock Band Blitz Launching in Late August

Rock Band Blitz -- the new downloadable extension of the popular plastic instrument franchise -- will be released on PlayStation Network on August 28 and Xbox Live Arcade on August 29, developer Harmonix announced this week. Unlike the previous entries, Rock Band Blitz does not utilize instrument controllers, instead letting you use a standard controller to play through a more arcade-oriented experience with power-ups and bright, colorful visuals.
