Merrci Goes Steampunk

September 14, 2011 - by baykiddead
Our good friend, and fellow paper toy fiend, Merrci has produced yet another crazy-fun and totally original paper toy. Where he gets it from, I don't know, but I hope he continues going back for more. One of the things I really like about this toy, and his previous one, is the hypothetical and very autobiographical nature of the design. The "what if..?" is such a great theme to explore and in my opinion, doesn't happen enough. Sure there are many fantastically hypothesized ideas out there, but very few of them are applied inward.

Stephane Halleux's Sculpture

April 19, 2011 - by Devin
Every once in a while you find an artist who just blows you away with originality. Stuff so different and cool you cant help but fall in love with it instantly and then spend hours absorbing and examining the hell out of it. Stephane Halleuxs' work is a universe of metal and leather, monsters and robots. Each piece has a quirky enduring character to it. Kinda steampunk, but really its just its own world and that's something many artists never achieve. So spend some a lot of  time in Stephanes' world like I did.

Steampunk Bugs

January 19, 2011 - by Devin
Im a big fan of anything steampunk, if you've heard me rave about doktor A you know this. So when i saw these gear infused insects i had to post them. These mechano bugs come to us thanks to Sculptor Mike Libby. He uses real insects and old pocket watch fodder to bring these  creatures to neo-victorian life. Each one is specially made and unique, but if you want one in your steampunk house it's gonna cost you anywhere from $600 to 2500 each. See a ton more on his site here http://www.insectlabstudio.com/?item/311
