Dragatomi, Sacramento's signature designer toy shop and gallery, has single-handedly put California's capital city on the map as a mecca for Designer Toys and related art. This month, they're hosting a great new art show - a tribute to the John Carpenter-directed camp classic Big Trouble in Little China. I attended the opening festivities this past Saturday, April 9 - I'm happy to report that it's a GREAT show - solid artwork all around with a great blend of established artists (Alex Pardee, Skinner, Mark Nagata), solid toy customizers (Leecifer, TASK One, Dril One) and emerging new talent. The opening party was buzzing with energy, with a lot of artists in attendance. It was well worth the two-hour trek east from the Bay Area - I look forward to the next show on Dragatomi's calendar!

Here's a quick report-back, be sure to check out the full image gallery for more pics, too.

The Guardian by Sacramento local, brilliantly talented freakazoid Skinner.

Lo Pan by Alex Pardee - one of three prints Alex contributed to the show.

To no surprise for anyone that's seen the film, the villian Lo Pan was well-represented in a lot of the artwork. This bust of Lo Pan is by Bay Area artists Lucien Shapiro.
