During his performance at the Billboard Music awards Grammy-winning musician and street artist Chris Brown's new creation (Dum English Astronaut with Ron English) made a special appearance.

The animation that was featured in Chris' performance is based on Chris' recently released Designer vinyl art toy collaboration with artist Ron English, Garageworks Industries and Made by Monsters, who teamed up to offer a very exclusive line of collectible toys and one of a kind sculptures. This project launched in LA on May 2nd and is scheduled to kick off in New York in June. Hmm.. Dum English Astronaut will land in NYC just as the Space Shuttle Enterprise reaches the Intrepid! Coincidence or am I just watching too much of the history channel?

This project showcases Chris's street art and his passion for the art form for the first time at the Corey Helford Gallery on May 2nd alongside Ron's work.

Chris and Ron were on site together collaboratively painting a life size Dum English astronaut sculpture in front of guests at the gallery.

"Hands down right now my guy is Ron English. Ron has to be the more creative, 'out there' artist I see. His work is so precise but at the same time so unorthodox. I think it's incredible to be able to see him do what he does and be a fan," says Chris Brown.

"Chris is one of the sweetest, most talented people I've ever met. Working with Chris is like being a kid in a candy store," explains Ron English.  "The ideas we come with are fun and colorful, young and daring."

In addition to this love-fest collaboration, Brown owns the successful MechanicalDummy blog site.  It's pretty cool and as an artist himself, Brown wants the site to serve as a platform for artists who aspire to excel in the technological, cultural, style and branding realms.

I thought the animation Chris used and his all around performance at the Billboard Awards was amazing. It served as a reminder that not all pop musicians are robots, that some are true artists. It's nice to know that they're out there, don't ya think?
