Sound Shapes is perhaps the most promising original PlayStation Vita game still on the horizon, and the rhythm-platform game -- designed by Queasy Games, the studio behind the excellent Everyday Shooter -- just picked up another trump card in its march towards release. According to a post on the PlayStation.Blog, a collaboration with Superbrothers, the makers of last year's acclaimed Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, will result in a series of stages inspired by the iPhone and iPad game.

The stages will take the form of an in-game album titled "CORPOREAL," and like Sword & Sworcery EP, the stages will be scored by composer Jim Guthrie, who also contributed the soundtrack to Indie Game: The Movie. As seen in these screenshots, the stages carry on the pixel-based aesthetic of Sword & Sworcery EP, albeit with more modern and mechanical subject matter.

"Much like Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, Sound Shapes is a made-in-Toronto DIY videogame that is unusually collaborative and has a heavy emphasis on synesthetic audiovisual style," reads the post by Superbrothers' Craig D. Adams. "What’s more, the people making Sound Shapes are all basically our very best pals – they’re the folks with whom we play board games, drink the beers, go skating and play hockey. On every level it’s an honor and a thrill to be involved."

Sound Shapes is due out in the near future on PlayStation Vita. For a better look at the game and what to expect, be sure to check out the embedded trailer below.
