Following intense fan backlash over the multiple available endings to Mass Effect 3, the conclusion of the epic sci-fi trilogy, BioWare decided to expand upon the original conclusions, and those fresh finales are available now as free downloadable content for many players.

The Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut download -- which weighs in at about 1.9GB -- is now out for Xbox 360 and PC, as well as PlayStation 3 for North American players only; European fans who have the game on PlayStation 3 will receive the content on July 4. You'll need the full version of Mass Effect 3 to experience the new content, of course, but otherwise it's freely available to snag and hopefully enjoy. Here's hoping the fanbase is finally satisfied, though BioWare says additional (and likely premium) content is still incoming for the game.
