Tokyo Jungle Hits PlayStation 3 on September 25

August 20, 2012 - by Andrew Hayward

Tokyo Jungle has captured the imagination of import game enthusiasts in recent months, as the Japanese release for PlayStation 3 spotlighted an abandoned Tokyo that's since been taken over by animals, who then fight for survival amidst the urban wreckage. While oddball games of this sort typically never see the light of day in North America, Sony is luckily bringing Tokyo Jungle over as a downloadable PlayStation Network release -- and it's due out on September 25 for just $14.99, a fraction of the price of the disc-based Japanese version.

In just a few short weeks, you'll be able to take the role of a Pomeranian dog, baby chick, wolf, bear, and dozens of other beasts as you battle for supremacy in a human-less world. Both story and survival modes are included, with the former mode offering a range of playable beasts in a narrative-driven tale that investigates the humans whereabouts, while the latter option is all about hunting and taking over territories while creating offspring.

It's a wild one, but especially at just $15, Tokyo Jungle will be hard to resist for those of us who like a good, weird, original game.
