Shawn Smith has started a new project called "Resketch: a new kind of sketchbook". Resketch is a unique, eco-friendly sketchbook for people who believe in drawing.
"The mission is simple... Provide a new take on the fundamental building block of creative thinking: a sketchbook that fosters creativity and discovery via a diverse selection of paper types, and simple yet thought-provoking Creative Prompts. Acquire interesting, high-quality reused paper from a variety of non-new sources that would otherwise be destined for a landfill or recycling center Post-Kickstarter, find innovative ways to get Resketch books to people who need them most."
The Resketch books made for this Kickstarter are 7 x 9-inch, between 85-100 pages, and coil-bound with a thick chipboard cover and back. If this Kickstarter project is successful, Shawn will know this idea is viable, and will be able to produce 1000 total books: 700 standard Resketch books for the $25 backer level, and 300 special-edition Resketch books described below at the $50 level (that includes domestic shipping for each level, by the way).
While the standard Resketch book is a thing of beauty, Shawn didn't want it to end there so he enlisted the help of some amazing artists from around the US and Chicago to create art for a limited-edition series of Resketch book covers (30 of each cover, signed and numbered â so 300 total) at the $50 level, all lovingly screen-printed by Jay Ryan and the friendly folks at The Bird Machine. Finding inspiration isn't always easy. In fact, it can be downright elusive. Resketch isn't going to solve all of your creative blocks, but it may just help get things moving. Whether it's the fun Creative Prompts or simply the variety of paper types, I want Resketch books to act as a springboard for your ideas.
The numbered Creative Prompts are randomly inserted every so often â around 10 per book â and are meant to inspire subtly, nudge you visually, or at least make you laugh. They're either printed on reused paper on hand or on 100% post-consumer waste, eco-friendly paper using vegetable-based ink. Since they're randomly inserted, you'll likely get a different set of Prompts with each Resketch book. Collect them all!
