kidrobot store closings

The rumors of Kidrobot Boulder's demise were not exaggerated, unfortunately. Kidrobot have taken the commendable approach of actually filling in their fans on what's happening with the business and what to expect in the near future. The Boulder location is indeed taking a bow. The company has also spun off their Vegas and San Fran locations into a sort of second-party dealership. While KR were formerly restrictive with which stores and how many stores in a particular area could carry their products, they are now focusing on getting their vinyl, plush, accessories, and clothing in as many outlets as possible and will be putting more emphasis on their online approach by launching a new site in a few months.

Dear Kidrobot Fans, Friends and Family,

As many of you have seen or heard Kidrobot has closed several of its retail stores over the course of the last year. As much as we love to “live” in our communities, we’ve made the strategic decision to exit all Kidrobot-owned retail locations. Kidrobot San Francisco and Kidrobot Las Vegas, however, will remain in place as independent dealers.

Rather than let rumor sow uncertainty, we want to address any concerns straight up and share what we are doing to continue providing for our loyal and passionate community:

* We are focusing our efforts to expand our brand and product offerings through our growing list of retail partners, event & convention-based pop-ups and more.

* As always, we are continuing to broaden the reach of the Kidrobot brand through new and exciting collaborations with art, fashion, music and technology partners.

* We are excited to launch our new Kidrobot website, slated to go-live this Fall. This project has been a key area for us over the last six months and we are psyched to share it with you – be on the lookout!!

Kidrobot has grown and flourished thanks to the love of the product, the scene and the unwavering support of our fans and community. We are looking ahead, excited about the future and our incredible line-up of new products with amazing artists, licensing and collaboration partners.

Much Love and Art,

Kidrobot

The changing times in the designer toy scene and the economy haven't been helpful for Kidrobot. But hopefully this new approach works for the company.
