Parra is one of my favorite artists, but I've never gotten the chance to see his work in person (other than Kidrobot's Pierced, that is). Being located in the Netherlands is probably the biggest contributor to his relatively sparse presence on the East Coast. But the Joshua Liner Gallery in NYC will be opening No Work Today, the gallery's first solo exhibition, on November 17. As opposed to his typographical illustrations this collection features several new acrylic paintings by Parra, who is known for depicting curvy, surrealistic ladies, often with bird beaks. Be at the gallery from 6PM on opening night for the reception.
