Ni hao Everybody! That's Hello in Chinese. Which I learned from about 5 minutes watching the kid's show Ni hao, Kai-lan. The creator behind that series, Kai-lan Chau, has a new art show out and its saccharin sweet adorable.

Kids are going to be multi-powerful braniacs with the shows that are airing these days. Ni Hao, Ki-lan is riding that wave of multilingual kids programming that follows in the footsteps of Dora the Explora. And it seems like art in kids show's is getting good again, see adventure time for my new favorite program I'm ashamed to watch in the company of people my age. After seeing this art show it seems NHKL is going to be on that list too.

The show, called inner dialogue, is in tap with the kawaii style rising in the east but also playful and good collection of character design work. I usually lean towards darker and more adult art but i cant deny I enjoy this stuff too. Also All proceeds from the sales will be split between two well deserving charities – Families with Children from China (fwcc.org) and City Critters Rescue (citycritters.org).

Also across the way one of life's greatest things... Monkeys!

At the same time don't miss a show filled with "Stuffed Monkeys and Freeze-dried Fauna" by the talented, Julia Marchand. Marchand's style is a strange, almost seventies retro feel that works well with her concept. The show's main theme is painting's of animals that were taxidermied, which is creepy, but she pulls it off nicely. I love the floral patterned tiger.

You can check out the shows at Sloan Fine Art, located at 128 Rivington Street on the Lower East Side. Hours are Wednesday - Sunday, noon - 6, and by appointment. For more info go to sloanfineart.com
