Tonight people across the US will be hitting up release parties for the next series of dunnys, Ateca II. I was at one of these events in a great shop called Domy on the East side of Austin,TX. It's always interesting to see the assortment of people that come out for these things. Young and old, everybody needs there crack/ dunnys.

Personally I wasn't ecstatic over the azteca II series.. I contribute this to a variety of factors.

1. I first started collecting near the time series 1 came out...and was habitually burned by doubles. oh the pain!

2. The box art i had seen (the flat 2d versions of the figures) only had a few figures that really stood out to me.

3. I just bought a ton of dunnys! the 2010  and 2 tone series just came out it seems. Im not made of dunnys.

But getting up close and personal with the new series made me change my mind. A lot of detail get lost in translation. But this is a series has a lot of nice touches. I also liked that there were less chases/ more chances for me to get my mits on a set. Still whats with the avocado?

Here @ Domy

Special edition Marka27 for getting a case. I love that the main speakers are raised and sculpted.

I was unimpressed with the mariachi figures by ochostore ...until i saw the sticker set the came with. Very clever and fun!

The beast brothers calender is an awesome sculpt... no assembly. And the rhinestone eyes are a great touch.

And SPOILER

The gold edition is just as cool.
