The last Stussy range promo material contained a teaser for a Stussy x Marvel collaboration heading our way this summer and here we have another teaser with the line up of the ranges characters and artists involved in the project. All sounds good but then again the collaboration with Daniel Clowes looked awesome till you saw the tiny size of the print on the shirt. Read more for the Character and Artist line ups...
Keeping my fingers crossed that they don't make the same mistake again and keep these designs printed big! Wonder if all the designs will take the form of comic book cover designs like these teasers? The collection is split into 2 series:
Series 1 appears to be classic Marvel imagery mixed in with stussy logos and iconography featuring Wolverine, Captain America, Dr Doom, Dr Octopus, Ghost Rider, Punisher & Silver Surfer
Series 2 is an artist series with the likes of Noah Euktas, Mr Cartoon, Todd James, James Jarvis, John K, Gary Panter, Bill Plympton, David Shrigley & Will Sweeny all taking a crack at the Marvel world. From the teaser it seems to suggest the artists will tackle characters like The Hulk, Spiderman, Thor, The Thing and probably the Human Torch.
Should make for an interesting collection. Top stand out name is obviously James Jarvis who gets a second chance to make up for last years rather unsuccessful Stussy collaboration. I had kind of hoped for the inclusion of artists like Kostas Seremetis, Dave White & Meggs, but its pretty obvious from the line up that they are moving away from comic styled artists and i'm not sure thats such a good idea but i will wait to give jugement on the series when proper pics are revealed.
Series 1 of the Stussy x Marvel range is due to drop on April 27, Series 2 on May 6th. I reckon from the first drop the SS link tee will be the one to get! No idea for series 2 yet but that is one interesting artist line up! Not holding my breath tho - Stussy has a history of disappointing me and ruining designs with rookie mistakes. Rant over!
