The Butcher Kings are here to chop up your pop culture and give you the bloody bits back as totally original dishes. Twisted and brilliant artists Alex Pardee and Skinner have a new show at Gallery 1988 and it is Saturday morning cartoons and murder. Nothing is sacred to the Butcher Kings. Ghostbusters, Kid and Play, Robocop, Notorious B.I.G, And Star Trek are just a few of the pop icons that get the edge of the king's cleaver. Its an amazingly fun remix of memory lane and I can't imagine many shows I would get such a mixed inner dialogue from. Kind of a Nostalgia/Terror. You can see all the art on display at gallery 1988 until the 29th at Melrose and you can purchase all of the works at the gallery 1988 website. Also interesting is the commentary by the kings on image over at funnyordie.com. Heres a sampling of a few of my favorites.

I don't often venture outside of The Block. But when I do, I make my way to Bandai's booth.

Barbie, Boglins, Masters of the Universe, Polly Pocket... Unless you were raised by wolves, Mattel had a bit impact on your childhood. As a toy manufacturer and distributor, the company has been sparking the imaginations of kids for 70 years.

While the new Ghostbusters movie was just decent, I'm basking in the glory of all the merch. Ecto-Cooler is back FFS! And if Secret Base's Stay Puft Marshmallow Man isn't your jam, check out S.H.
