Love these gorgeous cutout installations by Jeremy Fish and Kenichi Yokono currently on display at the Mark Moore Gallery. I am very familiar with Jeremy Fish's work and it is definitely some of my favorite on the scene. This is, however, my first time seeing the work of Kenichi Yokono and I am blown away. Stark red and white illustration drawing from sexuality, death, anime and everything in between. The artist also states a defiance of kawaii (super-cute) that has become mainstream in Japanese culture, which makes me love the work all the more. Both artist rock these woodcuts and I would surely be mesmerized for hours staring at them on the gallery wall. If your in the neighborhood be sure to check "The Rise of the Underground" in Los Angeles from 29 October-17 December 2011.
