I am so impressed by Molly Crabapples’ “week in hell” project. If you’re unfamiliar with Molly’s work, she is a New York based artist who is famed for creating the Dr. Sketchy anti-art school. Her work is gorgeously complex and has a cleverly unique look. It often reminds me of those nautical maps that featured krakens and sirens.

The Week in hell project was a kickstarter funded project, where in Molly locked herself up in a hotel room and covered every inch of it in white strips of paper. She then proceeded to draw on every inch of it, making an expansive work of art. All 270 feet of work was presold to kickstarter funders, which grabbed over $25,000. Genius. She wasn’t alone though, a bevy of musicians, muses and press visited her in the self-imposed prison. Wish I had thought of it!
