Continuing the recent trend of bundling together older games from other platforms and bumping them into high definition, Capcom announced today that it will release the Resident Evil: Chronicles HD Collection as a downloadable PlayStation 3 game this summer. The package compiles a pair of previous Wii retail games -- Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles -- with higher-resolution visuals and PlayStation Move support.

Unlike traditional Resident Evil titles, the two games found within Chronicles HD Collection are akin to arcade-style light gun games, and previously used the Wii Remote to let you zap at the screen to dispel undead attackers. Now, you'll be able to use PlayStation Move remotes for similar actions, with local cooperative play included, or you can use a standard controller. Between the two games, you'll be able to experience events from many of the older Resident Evil games in a new light, with several familiar playable characters in the mix as well.

I've been playing Street Fighter II for years and years, but the battered and bruised "lose" portraits at the end of each match still make me laugh out loud. The characters are swollen to a ridiculous degree and have the strangest expressions on their faces.
