This weekend wraps up the annual summer festival known as "The Gathering of the Juggalos" . The "Gathering" is a celebration of all that is the Insane Clown Posse, a horrible rap act, and their much maligned fans known as "Juggalos". "Juggalettes" are female fans, or if the fans are stealth like that, they go by "Ninjas".

How do I know this? I'd like to say my Juggalo knowledge comes from the short film we're about to discuss, but I can't. At one time I lived in a tiny town that had a group of unhappy teenagers that were big into Insane Clown Posse. I remember standing behind them at the corner store as they paid for their Newports with coins.

Anyway, because "The Gathering " is upon us, I thought it would be a good time to talk about Sean Dunne's documentary short "American Juggalo". Filmed at the 2010 Gathering and released last year, "American Juggalo" is pretty damned good. As with all of Sean Dunne's short docs, it's looks great, and the subjects are very compelling. You can't look away from this. If you haven't seen it already please watch it. It's only 23 mins & I think it's safe to say you'll wish it was longer.

Sean Dunne has said about the film "American Juggalo is a look at the often mocked and misunderstood subculture of Juggalos, hardcore Insane Clown Posse fans who meet once a year for four days at The Gathering of the Juggalos. We went to The Gathering of the Juggalos and let the Juggalos speak their minds."

Try to count how many how many f-bombs are dropped in the 23 minute flick.

The BBC just dropped the needle on a documentary dedicated entirely to French electronic duo Daft Punk. I'm not a fan of the genre in general, but I've always been intrigued by the way they produce their music, and of course their retro-futuristic fashion.

Some people see clips of exotic travel destinations and say, "I want to go there." I see clips of independent toy stores and say, "I want to go there." Filmmaker Chuck Fry recently moved to Mishawaka, IN and happened upon Tom's Vintage Toys.
