Some Russian women want to be married so badly they are willing to participate in Taras Polataiko's 'Sleeping Beauty' installation at National Art Museum of Ukraine.  Polataiko has chosen a group of women to sleep on a pedestal for three days and wait for true love's kiss. But there's a little more to it than a simple kiss. The women are not under any spell, not under a curse, just under contract. The contract clearly states that if any of the beauties opens their eyes while being kissed by any of the male visitors they are obliged to marry them. It goes both ways too, meaning that the male visitors sign a contract stating that they are obligated to marry the beauty if she opens her eyes during the kiss. The suitor and the beauty are both required to be at least 18 years of age and single. I suppose it could be worse, it could be raining. Seriously, these adults are signing contracts freely, without a gun to their head. Some people don't have a choice.

Two things to watch for in the video - the heavy make-up on the beauty that makes her look like an aerobics instructor from the 80s & the way the men walk around her & size up the goods. They look like they're buying a car!

'Sleeping Beauty' runs from 8/22 to 9/9. [VIA]
