To celebrate the upcoming movie The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey the Wellington International Airport  in enlisted New Zealand special effects and prop company Weta Workshop to construct and install a huge sculpture of Lord of the Rings character, Gollum. The 2,645 pound, 9.8'  high, 43' long sculpture took 3 days to install and is suspended from the ceiling and hovering over diners in the main airport lounge. Eyeing that sculpture with food in front of me would do wonders for my appetite. The installation is in an appropriate location in the airport because Gollum is reaching out  to grab one of the 3 'juicy sweet fishes' hanging in front of him.

The Gollum installation is made of  polystyrene and covered in epoxy resin and is the size of a small jet! Wow!
