Gentle Giant's Jumbo G.I. Joe Figure Line!

While many children of the '80s fell in love with Star Wars action figures, which I certainly had my fair share of, it was actually the G.I. Joe and Transformers toy lines that captured my youthful fancy. Of especial note is the reason I preferred G.I. Joe figures, as they shared Star Wars' 3¾-inch scale height: instead of having limited mobility and only five points of articulation, G.I. Joe action figures seemed to have a near infinite amount of movement.

This is all of relevance as Gentle Giant, the company best known for doing Jumbo Star Wars figures in recent years, has turned their attention to Hasbro’s vintage line of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero figures. Inspired by the original 1982 releases, this ongoing series of 12-inch tall jumbo pieces are reproductions of the original 3¾-inch figures, using digital scanning and outputting to create an exact replica, only larger. Each figure is being reproduced using roto and injection molding and is made of durable plastics… with the same level of articulation as the Hasbro originals!

With a handful of figures already available, all from Series 1, I hope that they turn their attention to the mail-in Cobra Commander, as I never had the straight arm version… and I definitely can't wait until they do Destro from Series 2 or Zartan from Series 3. Yes, I preferred the villains, but who didn't?
