I imagine a fair few UK readers, as well as international viewers of this blog, have been to Tate Modern gallery on the South Bank in London and marvelled at the collections of Warhol, Lichtenstein, Picasso, Manet etc

Now a new extension, allowing more works to permanently displayed, has been given the green light. Great news. But I can't help but feel it's also ruining part of what makes Tate Modern a work of art in its own right - the converted power station building. Not to sound all Prince Charles but the new section looks out of place connected to the existing Tate and will dominate the existing building...why not just build it to the same height out of reclaimed bricks to match the current structure? Instead it's some weird translucent triangle thing from Blade Runner - fine on its own but it doesn't complement the current Tate at all IMO.
