Earlier this month Takashi Murakami opened a solo show titled "Ego" in Qatar. To fully embody this title he created a 20ft tall inflatable self-portrait, depicting himself as a giant meditating Buddha. The Press release from the show states that.. "the show reflects [Murakami's] desire to create a dialog with his own ego while celebrating global cultural dialog and exchange..".  Also on display is  a massive wrap around landscape painting of the recent tsunami in Japan, which Murakami compared to Picasso's "Guernica" - Ego indeed!!

"Murakami - Ego" will be on view from February 9 to June 24 in the Al Riwaq Exhibition Hall in Doha, Qatar.
