After an age of teasing yesterday, the worlds media was escorted to Universal Studios for the unveiling of the Nike Mag sneakers from Back to the Future II. Whilst there is no power lacing (its not 2015 yet says Tinker Hatfield) it's still the ultimate collector shoe and only 1500 will be made, and they're all being auctioned off on ebay to raise money for the Michael J Fox Foundation which continues to search for a cure for Parkinsons! Check out the pics and Vids!

Whilst the lack of power lacing is a bit of a let down i can think of a couple reasons why this hasn't been implemented or why the release wasn''t delayed untill it could be implemented!

1) That they developed a perfectly awesome shoe without the technology and trying to shoehorn that tech into a shoe would compromise the design, make it heavier and decidedly unfuturistic or 2) Waiting till 2015 (the fictional year of the shoe's release) means less money for the MJFF as Sergey Brin and Anne Wojcicki will double any contributions to the foundation till the end of 2012 up to a value of $50M

100 pairs a day are being auctioned off between now and September 18th. Check out nikemag.ebay.com for all the listings and good luck if you have the cash to splash! All listing seem to be around the $5-7,000 mark at the moment and if they all went for 6k that would be $18,000,000 after its been doubled by Sergey! And that is amazing - i expect them to raise more!

So Mark Parker and Tinker Hatfield unveiled the short film and the shoes yesterday and gave an insight into the development of the shoe with sketches and discussion with the press. The pair in the Radioactive case were auctioned off and went for $37.5k to UK rapper Tinie Tempah. Impressive! Hope he's happy with em - these aren't really designed to be worn but if anyone can, a rapper can! Also auctioned was a ceramic version of the shoe.

I recommend hitting up www.nicekicks.com for all the lowdown on this. Here's some pics via their site.

Nike have been slow to make the Air Max Zero part of their regularly updated sneakers. But the latest micro-run of Zeros is definitely something special. Most sneakerheads will instantly recognize the grey, white, and orangey-red colorway as Jeff Staple's signature.
