Tonight saw the opening of the NYC <3 Qee show at Yoyamart NYC. The event was in part a celebration of Toyfair 2011, and a chance for Toy2r to show off some new wares. I have to admit it was very strange to walk into Yoyamart this evening and to be transported back in time to 2005 when a very similar show was being hosted in the same spot, back when Toyfair was a hot party scene. Tonights show was just as busy, just different faces and newer fans - with some old faces of course - and it was great to see both.

The work on display was a range from excellent and perfectly crafted to mediocre and done a million times before, but on the whole these customs were of a very high standard. I've highlighted some of the stand out pieces below, but there are many more to look at a over on flickr. I have it on good authority that Hugh Jackman stopped by early in the night hung out for a while and brought several pieces. Go Hugh.

One of my particular favorites was the one below titled "Wonter's Bloom" by J*RYU. The sculpting, paint work and execution of this piece was outstanding, it had a very high attention to detail and had obviously took quite some time and love.

Also on display were new prototypes from toy2r, particularly interesting was the articulation gained in the arms. Great for customizing, however not available in Vinyl.  I did try to steal this one - no luck :(

Over all this was a great show. Congratulations to everyone who took part, and put the effort into making it possible. If your in NYC stop by Yoyamart (15 Gansevoort st) and check it out!
