The 2012 La Biennale di Venezia (Venice Biennale), which opened to the public at the beginning of the summer, has a long standing history of being the premiere showcase for contemporary artwork displayed on a grand scale. The pieces are exhibited among a series of international pavilions mainly within Giardini park and, nestled within the Italien pavilion this year, one could discover the work of Korean artist Do Ho Suh. This Suh's piece remained unrewarded by the committee, it did receive a large amount of word-of-mouth, mainly due to it's fantastic vision and inventiveness: Suh's room-sized installation featured a glass flooring held aloft by a multitude of plastic figures, akin to plastic army men with their hands raised, and the room's wallpaper design was made-up of dot-sized human face depictions. Absolutely brilliant.
