Whether you were a SNES kid or a Genesis - that's Mega Drive to all of our readers outside of North America - family, you're going to want to check out the opening reception of "Console Wars" at Gallery1988 tonight from 7-10PM. (Apologies to the poor saps stuck with a TurboGrafx-16.) The exhibition features plenty of tributes to the 16-bit era of gaming by Andy Stattmiller, Glen Brogan, and Audrey Pongracz that will help you relive the golden era of gaming, when Nintendo and SEGA would openly harass one another, SEGA would made some of the worst hardware decisions possible, and Nintendo managed to piss off Sony enough for them to set out on their own and dominate the gaming world with the Playstation. Those were the days. Check out some previews below.
Gallery1988 is located at 7308 Melrose Ave. in LA.
